GANNI
GANNI is one of those brands we keep coming back to. There is a confidence in the way Ditte Reffstrup designs, an ease that travels from a leopard-print jean on a Saturday to a printed midi at a summer wedding. The Kiti edit is small by intention, bought in limited runs each season. When a piece sells, it goes. The next drop will look different. If you would like a second opinion on a fit, drop us a note or come and visit the shop in Cardiff.
Where GANNI comes from
GANNI started life in Copenhagen in 2000 as a small cashmere brand and grew, slowly and then suddenly, into one of the most recognisable names in contemporary womenswear. Ditte and Nicolaj Reffstrup took over in 2009 and reshaped the label around a simple idea: clothes that feel like the woman wearing them rather than the other way round. The brand is B Corp certified, has phased out virgin leather and publishes its supplier list each year as part of an annual responsibility report.
The denim
If you know GANNI, the leopard jeans are probably what got you in the door. The leopard-spot denim has become a generational signature, sitting alongside washed straight-legs, high-rise styles and the occasional flare. The fits are honest about themselves: they hold their shape, they age well, they read as confident rather than effortful. Sized in inches at the waist, they tend to run true.
Dresses, blouses and the everyday tee
The seasonal dresses and blouses are where Ditte's love of pattern and colour really shows. Smock shapes, ruffled collars, big painterly florals, all balanced with cleaner cotton tees and ribbed knit tanks for days when you would rather just throw something on. The t-shirts in particular are worth noting: a slogan or a print you will actually want to wear, and they hold up to a wash.
Bags worth keeping
GANNI's accessories quietly punch above their weight. The Bou bag, with its rounded silhouette and structured top handle, has earned cult status over the past few seasons. Beyond the Bou, look for the small leather goods, the woven tote shapes and the seasonal bucket hats, all of which arrive in colours and prints that change with each collection.
How GANNI fits
Most GANNI clothing uses European sizing: EU 34 is UK 6, EU 36 is UK 8, EU 38 is UK 10, EU 40 is UK 12, EU 42 is UK 14. Denim is sized at the waist in inches. As a general rule the brand runs true to size, with a slightly relaxed shoulder on outerwear and a more fitted cut through the bodice on dresses. If you are between sizes on a structured piece, sizing up usually feels better.
At Kiti
We buy GANNI in small runs each season, and once a piece sells out it does not come back. The edit you see today will be different in a month. Free UK delivery on orders over £140, and free in-store collection at our Cardiff shop.
Also worth a look: Anine Bing, Stella Nova, Lollys Laundry and MOS MOSH for more Scandi labels, or AGOLDE and Citizens of Humanity if it is the denim that brought you here.
